Up River Yacht Club has an active dinghy fleet
which races regularly throughout the year from the IceBreaker Trophy just
after Christmas/New Year through to the Winter Series in December. We run
Easter, Spring, Summer and Autumn Series racing on Sundays as well as one-off
events including the Pints Trophy & RNLI Pennant. The Ice Breaker Trophy,
Warm Up Series and Winter Series are open events where members from other
clubs can also participate.
We also hold Fun Sails where friendly, experienced club members and safety
boats are on hand to look after any new or inexperienced members who just
want to sail up and down the river in company - don't feel you have to race
seriously, if at all, to take part in club activities! Another one-off event
that is good fun is the Cliff Reach Trophy where we sail to Cliff Reach, have
a picnic and then sail back.

We are committed to interacting with other clubs on the river and take part
in many joint events. The largest event of this type is the ACE Race (All
Clubs Event) where all clubs on the river from Hullbridge to Burnham are invited
to take part in a day/evening of fun, sailing, racing and socialising. Closer
to home we have particularly good relationships with Eyott Sailing Club and
Brandy Hole Yacht Club and regularly sail with members of these clubs in the
Hullbridge Regatta and Brandy Hole Regatta.
Up River Yacht Club holds Open Meetings for various classes including Lightnings
& Mirrors.
Our current fleet includes Enterprises, Lightnings, Lasers, Supernovas, Mirrors
and National 12s - but all monohull dinghies are welcome.
The cruisers have a number of long races, usually to the mouth of the river
or to such places as Paglesham or Brightlingsea. The cruisers are also eligible
to take part in the joint races mentioned above including the Regattas and
ACE Race.
